Learning and Development - Autism
This week is the Autism Week, 'an ode to the passion and the strong qualities of people with autism'.
'Learning to learn', it sounds simple, but it is less obvious for many people with autism. People with autism process offered information differently than people without autism, and this must also be done efficiently. Also, the generalization of skills is often difficult, as attention is often paid to details, so that the headline is lost out of sight. Nenko offers a large range of specifically developed products for this target group.
ONE TASK BOXES
One task boxes are clear and practical tasks; clearly used to stimulate people with autism in various development areas in a fun and playful way. There is a clear start and end to every task. The one task boxes are suitable for different developmental ages. By offering multiple short-term tasks, it is easier to maintain concentration and so achieve more results in the area of development. We also have tasks that act as a motivation task which can also be used as a reward for the effort made in tasks that require a little more concentration.
TIME TIMERS AND PICTOGRAMS
"How much time is left?" Is a frequently asked question. Past time is an abstract concept, difficult to understand and even harder to manage. But learning how to use time is the first step towards independence. It is therefore important to understand the concept of elapsed time in order to learn how to use time efficiently. Ways to Use Time Timers:
- Promote Efficient Use of Time
- The concept of learning time
- As encouragement of independence
- Learn how to manage time better
- Visualise elapsed time in a sound-sensitive environment
The Time timers can be combined well with (educational) pictograms. "Because an image speaks more than a thousand words!" The brain remembers visual information better than spoken information. Pictograms promote the independence of the user, they learn to take initiative themselves and become increasingly independent. Pictograms provide structure in time and activities and help with emotions and stimulation. In this way actions or the day are made clear and predictable and you can see for yourself what will happen in a playful way.
In the context of Nenko's theme 'Learning and Development', we have selected various products that we want to highlight for people with Autism. You can find these in the 'Learning and Development' Specials. Use code LOMN2019 and receive a 10% discount on your web order!
